Before he was the ACM’s reigning Male Vocalist of the Year and a judge on one of TV’s hottest music competition shows, “The Voice,” Blake Shelton was just another teenager growing up in Ada, OK with a summer job. Shelton tells Speakeasy that his first job was roofing houses, where he pulled in $8 an hour. “Like any 15-year-old in Oklahoma, I found someone who was 21 to give the money to,” he admits.

To those of you who will be starting your first job soon, Blake offers this advice, “You can never have another first job so you best enjoy it all you can.”

He sure has come a long way from roofing houses!
