Kingston East – Retail

A national chain grocery store will be the anchor tenant of the new shopping centre that will be built on Highway 15 across from Rose Abbey Drive.

Jeff Parkes of Taggart Realty told a meeting of the Kingston East Business Association last night he can’t reveal the name yet – but it already operates in Kingston.

Construction of the mall will start in about six months.

Parkes says other tenants haven’t been confirmed, yet.

Pittsburgh councillor Ryan Boehme told the meeting last night the city has approve construction of a new Shoppers Drug Mart that will be built at the corner of Highway 15 and Grenadier Drive.

Soybeans – Kingston

Kingston based technology company Altranex has entered into an agreement with Minnesota Soybean Processors to build a plant to produce renewable lubricant base oils, waxes, diesel and other products.

The Minnesota company is owned by farmers and operates a biodiesel refinery.

It chose Altranex because of its patented technology to produce one of kind renewable oil.

The partnership includes plans to have a pilot plant built in the next two years.

Arrest – Multiple Charges

A Kingston man faces a lengthy list of charges after police caught up with their suspect in a case from two weeks ago.

Police had stopped a vehicle on Weller Avenue on the night of January 8th…but the driver took off and almost hit an officer.

Police chased the vehicle but called off the chase on Montreal Street.

A man was arrested at a home on James Street around 10:30 last night and faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, obstructing police, breach of probation and breach of recognizance.

Woman Charged – Motel Room Damaged

A 25 year old Kingston woman has been arrested after staff at a motel found her passed out and unresponsive in her room that had been damaged.

Police arrived after paramedics were called around 6:30 Wednesday night.

The floor of the room was smeared with food and the television had been smashed.

The motel isn’t pursuing charges against the woman but she has been charged with breach of probation.

Impaired – Bath – Napanee

A woman from Napanee has been charged with impaired driving after a report of a vehicle being all over the road on Main Street in Bath late Wednesday afternoon.

The OPP found the vehicle on Main Street and arrested 36 year old Leanne Neumayer.

She was released on a promise to appear in court in Napanee on February 23rd to face a charge of driving with over 80 mgs of blood in her system.

RMC hosts West Point

The Royal Military College is hosting West Point cadets this weekend.

They arrived yesterday and will take part in a Winter Sports Day tomorrow that involves everything from Judo to swimming.

It will be topped off with the 80th game of the historic hockey series between RMC and West Point at Rogers K-Rock Centre tomorrow night at 7:30.
