Girl Found

 

Kingston Police say a girl who had been reported missing has been found and is alright.

Police issued a plea for help from the public in locating a 15 year old girl yesterday saying she had run away from her guardian on Tuesday night.

 

Millhaven – Lock down

 

A lockdown has been put in place at Millhaven Institution.  Inmates at the maximum security prison were locked in their cells around 2:00 yesterday afternoon to allow staff to conduct an exceptional search.  The correctional service doesn’t give out details of the reason for a lockdown – saying it is for the safety and security of the institution, staff and inmates.

Visits have been suspended until the search is over.

A lockdown in the assessment unit at Joyceville was put in place on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Man Assaults Mother

 

A 27 year old man from Trenton has been charged with assaulting his mother at her home in Kingston.

Kingston Police say the man was visiting his mother’s home with his two children on Monday night.

Police say the man had started a fight with his brother and his mother asked him to leave…that’s when he shoved her and threatened to kill her.  Police say the man had also choked and threatened to kill his mother’s dog during another incident in April.

The man turned himself in at Kingston Police headquarters and faces charges of assault, uttering threats and breach of probation.

 

Hair Comb – Robbery

 

A Kingston man has been charged with attempted robbery, uttering death threats and assaulting police after he tried to hold up a gas station with a hair comb.  Police say the man entered the gas station next to the Wolfe Island Ferry dock around 9:45 Tuesday night. The man had his face covered with a bandana and was holding the comb like a knife.  He left when he was confronted by a manager. Police say he threatened to kill an officer when he was arrested and did the same at the police station where he also spat on an officer.

 

Koopman and Parslow

 

A pair of Kingston Police officers will be receiving promotions.

Constable Steve Koopman will be promoted to the rank of sergeant on August 9th and Chad Parslow will be promoted from constable to sergeant on September 20th.

 

Super Heroes Visit KGH

 

Children in the pediatric unit at Kingston General Hospital will get a visit from some superheroes today.  The crew from Elite Window Cleaning will dress up as superheroes while they clean the windows today.  It has become an annual thing for the crew to help the hospital boost the more of the young patients, their families and the staff.   The window-cleaning superheroes draw smiley faces in the soap and giving the kids thumbs up through the glass as they rappel down the outside of the top floors at KGH.

 

Trump Painting

 

The third painting by a Kingston artist that features U.S. President Donald Trump will go on display at Frameworks in downtown Kingston this weekend.

Pat Shea has already produced paintings of Trump based on Napoleons coronation and another called, Impeachment.

Shea was inspired to paint the third picture when he visited an exhibition on Russian icons at the Louvre.  He says one had a resemblance to Trump and he immediately came up with the idea to paint…Saint Donaldo, the Patron Saint of Liars.  It will be on display with his two other paintings of Trump.
