From Tony’s today in history file….

History has been made in Canada with Cannabis becoming legal at midnight.

Today is also the anniversary of Gord Downie’s death and K-Rock has become GORD-FM for the day to honour the music of The Tragically Hip and its lead singer.

Guitarist Rob Baker has said Downie would have loved the fact the anniversary of his death coincides with the legalization of recreational pot in Canada.

Cannabis Legal

The Ontario Cannabis Store was active overnight as online sales became legal at midnight.  It is the only place to legally buy recreational pot in Ontario. Stores won’t be allowed to open until April of next year.

The first legal sales took place in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Ian Power was the first person to purchase pot legally in Canada.  Power says he won’t be smoking it…he’s framing the history making gram of cannabis.
