Election – Kingston – Percentages

 

Bryan Paterson has been re-elected as mayor of Kingston with a resounding majority.  Paterson received 23,708 votes…69% of the vote compared to second place finisher Vicki Schmolka who received 7,545 votes or just under 22% of the vote.  Rob Matheson finished a distant third with 7% of the vote and former S&R elevator operator Eric Lee received 564 votes…about 1.6% of the vote.

 

Election – Kingston Councillors

 

There will be a few new faces around the horseshoe at Kingston City Council…but there were no upsets for city council…all of the incumbents were re-elected.

The new councillors are Simon Chapelle in Loyalist Cataraqui.

Wayne Hill in Lakeside.

Brigit Doherty in Portsmouth.

And….Robert Kiley in Trillium district.

 

The councillors who were re-elected are:

Gary Oosterhof in Countryside District.

Mary Rita Holland in Kingscourt-Rideau.

Jeff McLaren in Meadowbrook – Strathcona.

Jim Neil in Williamsville.

Peter Stroud in Sydenham district

And Rob Hutchison for Kings Town district.

Ryan Boehme was acclaimed as the councillor in Pittsburgh district.

 

Internet Outage – Voting

 

There was a big problem in Kingston and about 50 other municipalities using Internet voting supplied by Dominion Voting Systems.  It suffered an outage that wasn’t discovered until about 5:45 yesterday afternoon in Kingston.  The system wasn’t restored until after 8pm.

Kingston’s city clerk extended the voting period at all polling stations until 9:15 last night to allow people to vote in person.  People were also able to vote online once the system was restored.

Some of the other municipalities that suffered the Internet outage have extended voting through today before ballots are counted.

 

Loyalist – South Frontenac

 

In Loyalist Township….Ric Bresee easily won as mayor and Jamie Hegadorn was elected deputy mayor.

 

Ron Vandewal was returned as Mayor of South Frontenac.

The councillors are:

Ray Leonard in Portland District.

Ross Sutherland in Loughborough District.

 

Gananoque – Napanee – Stone Mills – Prince Edward

 

The new mayor of Gananoque is Ted Lojko.

Corinna Smith-Gatcke was elected mayor of Leeds and Thousand Islands Township.

Marg Isbester is the new mayor of Napanee and Max Kaiser was elected as deputy mayor.

In Stone Mills…Eric Smith won as Reeve and the deputy Reeve is John Wise.

And…Steve Ferguson was elected as the new mayor of Prince Edward County.

The rest of South Frontenac Council was acclaimed.
