There’s a new #1 song on the weekly Billboard Country National Airplay chart in Canada – and it sets a new record for Canadian artists! For the issue date June 1 (published today), Mackenzie Porter scores her first #1 hit with “About You.” The single is the sixth for the actress, singer and musician, her first Top 10 hit and now her first #1. It’s also the second time a Canadian female solo artist has reached #1. Tenille Townes was the first back in February with “Somebody’s Daughter.” Porter’s personal achievement also marks a special historical moment in the chart’s history, which began in 2013.

For the first time in the history of the Billboard chart, Canadians have reached #1 a record eight times, beating last year’s record of seven chart-toppers. And the year isn’t even half-over yet! To put this in perspective, in the first four years of the charts, there were only a total of five Canadian #1’s. Also, never in the history of the chart have so many Canadian artists earned their first #1 in one year. Last year, only three of the seven Canadian #1’s were by artists scoring their first. This year, a record seven top hits have been by first-timers!

Here’s the list of Canada’s #1 hits so far this year:

-The Reklaws, “Feels Like That” (02/02/19)

-Tenille Townes, “Somebody’s Daughter” (02/09/19)

-Aaron Goodvin, “You Are” (02/23/19)

-Dallas Smith, “Rhinestone World” (03/23/19)

-Aaron Pritchett, “Better When I Do” (04/13/19)

-Hunter Brothers, “Lost” (04/20/19)

-Chad Brownlee, “Forever’s Gotta Start Somewhere” (05/04/19)

-Mackenzie Porter, “About You” (06/01/19)

Congratulations to the Canadian artists, musicians and songwriters on a record year!
