Yacht Destroyed

Fire has destroyed a yacht at Ed Huck Marine in Rockport and has damaged another expensive boat.

The boat that was destroyed has an estimated value of $350,000.

The one that was damaged is valued at $900,000.

The fire was discovered around 2pm on Monday.

The cause of the fire isn’t known.

 

Youth on Roof

A Kingston teenager has been charged with assaulting a person and damaging a police cruiser after being found on the roof of a home in Kingston.

Kingston Police say the 14-year-old was confronted by the resident of the home around noon on Sunday – came down from the roof – kicked a wooden fence and hit the resident with a broken fence board.

The police cruiser was damaged when a door was repeatedly kicked.

On top of being charged with mischief, assault with a weapon and uttering threats…the boy has also been charged with two counts of breach of an undertaking, and two counts of breach of probation.

 

Drug and Weapons Bust

A 32 year old woman from Kingston and 22 year old man from Belleville are facing firearm and drug charges after police executed a search warrant at a house on Day Street.

Officers seized crystal meth and cocaine, over 1-thousand dollars cash, a switchblade, and a loaded handgun.

The pair face firearms charges as well as charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The man also faces three counts of breach of probation.

 

Attack – Women Charged

Two women have been charged after one of their ex-boyfriends was assaulted in Kingston.

Kingston Police say a woman and her friend went to the man’s home around 9:40 on Saturday night.  He was attacked – hit multiple times and sexually assaulted.

His home and garage were also trashed.

Two women were arrested on Sunday.

A 23 year old woman from Kingston and a 22 year old woman from Napanee are facing multiple charges.

 

Pedestrian Mall – Ontario Street

The city of Kingston has announced an initiative to create a public space for recreational and cultural events by closing Ontario Street in front of Kingston City Hall on two weekends this summer.

That’s on top of being closed for special events like the Kingston Buskers Rendezvous this weekend.

Ontario Street will be closed to vehicle between Brock Street and Market Street from July 12th to July 14th, and August 9th to August 11th.

 

Boatilla – Results

The 15th annual Buck Lake Boatilla raised $26,800 for Easter Seals Send a Kid to Camp campaign.

15 boats took part on Saturday for tours of Buck Lake.

Easter Seals says it is enough money to send 10 kids to camp for 10 days.

The Boatilla has now raised $277,000 in the past 15 years.  The funds are used to send children to Camp Merrywood on Big Rideau Lake.

 

Green – Kingston Visit

Green Party of Ontario Leader, Mike Schreiner, will be visiting Kingston today.

Schreiner is launching his Clean and Caring Economy Tour and will tour Breakwater Park with the city of Kingston’s Municipal Accessibi9lity Advisory Committee this afternoon.

He has also scheduled a public town hall meeting tonight starting at 7 in Memorial Hall at Kingston city hall.
