January 23 & 24: Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority to Speak at Public Library

The new decade will see a continuing increase in the number of seniors living in retirement homes. Whether you already live in such a home or you’re trying to choose one, it can sometimes be difficult to get all the information that you need. Kingston Frontenac Public Library’s monthly speaker series KFPL Live is pleased to offer two presentations in January by representatives from the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority, or RHRA.  As an independent, self-funded, not-for-profit corporation, the RHRA ensures that retirement home residents live in dignity, with the support and knowledge they need to make informed choices about their care options. Committed to the protection and well-being of seniors living in retirement homes, the RHRA administers and enforces Ontario’s Retirement Homes Act so that homes adhere to care and safety standards. It licenses and inspects homes and responds to complaints, and it can close a home that is not in compliance. Anyone living in or looking for a retirement home will find these presentations very useful. There will be two presentations: at the Calvin Park branch on Thursday, January 23 at 2 p.m. and at the Isabel Turner branch on Friday, January 24 at 2 p.m. Both presentations will be the same and both are open to adults. There is no admission charge, but seating is limited. To avoid disappointment, please register in advance at calendar.kfpl.ca or by phone at (613) 549-8888.
