Operation Red Nose for our 2017 season – our 20th serving the Kingston area!

The BEST way to get home this Holiday Season!

Spend time with your friends and family celebrating the Holidays and use Operation Red Nose’s FREE designated-driver program to get you AND your vehicle home safe and sound this Season!  One quick call to our Red-Nose Hotline and we will dispatch one of our volunteer drive teams to your pick-up location.  Two of the drive-team members will drive you and your guests home in your vehicle while the third team member follows in the team escort vehicle.  When you arrive at your drop-off location, the team will reunite and continue on to their next assignment.

Hours of Operation

Operation Red-Nose telephone lines are open from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am on operation nights.  ?Please call 30 to 45 minutes prior to your preferred pick-up time to request a ride.

Volunteers are key

Operation Red Nose is only possible because of the strong commitment of numerous volunteers who fill all sorts of roles. The majority of volunteers are needed to serve as part of three-person teams – an escort driver, designated driver and navigator – who escort clients safely to their destination. You can assemble your own three-person team or be teamed up with other volunteers once you arrive. All volunteers must be willing to submit to a police background check prior to volunteering and obey the code of ethics.

Escort Driver

Must be at least 19 years old and be licensed and insured to drive a vehicle in Ontario. This volunteer uses his/her own vehicle to drive the designated driver and navigator to the pick-up location. He/she then follows the designated driver, navigator and client(s) to the requested destination. He/she then drives the designated driver and the navigator back to headquarters or to another pick-up location.

Designated driver

Must be at least 21 years old and be licensed and insured to drive a vehicle in Ontario. This volunteer drives the client’s vehicle to the requested destination.

Navigator

Must be at least 19 years old. This volunteer rides along with the designated driver and the client(s). He/she assists the designated driver with directions and keeps in contact with headquarters. He/she also acts as the team secretary by filling out the client’s receipt.
