Carbon Capture Research Centre

Big things are happening on the economic development front for Kingston.
A new partnership will see the formation of the first ever International CO2 Capture and Conversion Research, Development and Commercialization Centre in Kingston.
The project is being spearheaded by X-Prize and Enviro Innovate Corporation at Innovation Park in Kingston.
Enviro Innovate Chair and CEO Tom Thompson says the Kingston region will host as many as 30 CO2 conversion technology companies working on innovative ideas they want to commercialize for world markets.
Driving the concept is the $20 million Carbon XPRIZE – a global competition to address climate change by capturing and converting CO2 emissions from power plants and industrial facilities.
Innovators from around the world will compete to develop breakthrough technologies that will convert CO2 emissions into valuable products like building materials, alternative fuels, and other items that we use every day.

Bank Robberies

York Regional Police say they believe a man that robbed a bank in Richmond Hill on August 30th was the same man who robbed the National Bank in Kingston on August 25th.

The man passed a note to the teller at the bank in Kingston and fled the scene on foot.  He was clearly captured in surveillance pictures wearing shorts, a Tilley style hat and had a full beard.

The man pictured in the Richmond Hill bank robbery was clean shaven.
