Child Sex Abuse

 

A woman charged in a child sex abuse case dating back more than a decade works with the Canadian Mental Health Association in Kingston.

Toronto Police arrested 46 year old Jacquelyn Laronde on Wednesday in Kingston.

Police say Laronde bad been previously known as Sean O’Toole.

Her LinkedIn profile says she is Program Development Coordinator for Gender and Sexually Diverse Youth programs at the Kingston office of the Canadian Mental Health Association…and is co-chair of Kingston Pride.

56 year old Martin Galloway of London, Ontario was arrested January 25th.

Both Laronde and Galloway have been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.

Police claim the abuse took place at a home in London 12 to 14 years ago when two men made online arrangements with a child’s parents.

 

Friday Prayers Invitation

 

People in Kingston will be able to show support for Kingston’s Muslim Community today during their Friday prayers.

The Islamic Society of Kingston is inviting people to join them in the service following the killings at a Quebec City mosque on Sunday.

Quotations during the service will be translated into English and there will be a sermon in English.

The service starts at 12:40 this afternoon.

 

Open House – Third Crossing

 

An open house to update people on the Third Crossing is taking place this afternoon at the Kingston Community Health Centre office on Weller Avenue.

The city’s director of engineering, Mark Van Buren, will be there and for a question and answer session.

The session on the bridge the city is considering building over the Cataraqui River takes place between 3 and 5 p.m. today.

 

Easter Seals

 

Easter Seals has announced its fund raising goal for 2017 during a luncheon in Kingston.

The goal for Southeastern Ontario Easter Seals Week is $70,000.

The funds will help approximately 200 children in the region.

Easter Seals Week takes place from April 24 to 28.

 

Westbrook Water Outage

 

Utilities Kingston is turning off the water to approximately 500 homes and businesses in Westbrook today.  The water will be turned off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Utilities Kingston will be replacing a district water meter on a Woodbine Road water main that supplies the Westbrook area. This new technology is being investigated to help identify water leaks in the system, and help improve operating efficiency and water conservation.
