Today in History

From Tony’s Today in History File…

On this day…January 8, 1998…Kingston woke up to the ice storm of the century.

A state of emergency was declared on the afternoon of January 8th and wasn’t lifted until January 17th.

Last week – someone jumped the gun and declared the Ice Storm in Kingston started January 4th – but that’s not correct.  It started the night of January 7th and power went off to 70% of the city by early in the morning of January 8th, 1998.
