Kingston – Anti-Terrorism Arrests

The RCMP will be giving an update today about a national security investigation in Kingston that has resulted in the arrest of two people. The R-C-M-P says there’s no immediate threat to public safety after yesterday’s operation, which also involved Kingston Police.

A home on Kingsdale Avenue and one on Macdonnell Street were raided by police in the anti-terrorism investigation involving multiple police forces including the FBI.

A senior government official says the situation has been contained and both the RCMP and Kingston Police say there is no threat to public safety.

Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale says the country’s official threat level remains at “medium,” where it has stood since the fall of 2014.

The investigation involved the use of an RCMP surveillance plane dubbed the “Mystery Plane” by people as it circled over Kingston for the past few weeks.
