Scotty McCreery was made an official member of the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday, April 20th.

Josh Turner, who Scotty has long admired, handled the official induction, growing emotional as he spoke of the quality of Scotty’s character. He said, “Scotty is not only a fine singer and a songwriter but he’s a great man, husband, and now father. I’m proud of him and I’m proud that he is filling the shoes of the artists before him.”

Scotty accepted the honor saying, ““If you’ve listened to any of my interviews over the last 15 years of doing this, they’d say, ‘what is your biggest goal?’ and I’d always say, ‘One day I wanna be a member of the Grand Ole Opry. I gotta go home and start writing a new bucket list.”

Prior to his induction, Scotty sang his current single, “Cab in a Solo,” “Fall of Summer,” also from his upcoming album, Rise and Fall, and, in a nod to Randy, “Three Wooden Crosses.” His final number of the night was his first number-one, “Five More Minutes.”
